In all of his DVDs, he always has a section on "Hand Quickness" and "Wrist Weight Overload Training". After watching his explanation, and seeing footage of the players he trains, the proof is in the pudding that he may be developing some of the quickest ball-handlers in the world.

Say's Jeremy, "Ball-Handling is by far the easiest skill to teach. The development of ball-handling has to include the proper progressions with a solid curriculum, but really the #1 key to ball-handling is QUICK HANDS. I see ball-handling like boxing - if you have slow hands, you will get knocked out and exposed. In basketball, if you have slow hands, you will get it taken from you or can't progress the ball against a defense".

In his DVDs he makes a great point about the Overload Principle. He states that if you want to increase your muscle mass, you go to a weight facility and overload your muscles with weights. If you want to increase your aerobic conditioning, you overload your heart with running, swimming, stepping, etc. Therefore, why as basketball coaches, do we never overload our basketball players hands during ball-handling drills? Say's Jeremy, "For those that have seen my clinics, they know that we will NEVER step onto the court for our ball-skills work without overloading our hands with weights. Training without them would be maintaining the skill level and speed I currently have. If professionals, high schoolers, etc., are paying me to get them better, I need to get results fast".

Once again, it is great that Jeremy Russotti provides the basketball world with top resources for training. The Wrist weights can be found on his website (www.jglove.com), or can call him for team sales (707) 849-1212. Keep it up Jeremy and can't wait to see what you bring forth next.

Jeremy Russotti Millinnium Unstoppable Offensive Skill Set DOUBLE DVD

I highly recommend Jeremy Russotti New "Millennium Unstoppable Offensive Skill Set" Dvd. I really like this new DVD since it is a Double DVD and has a lot of great teaching footage. For those that don't put two an two together, Jeremy is the inventor of the J-Glove Shooting Aid (www.jglove.com) and founder of Green Room Professional Training (www.1percentclub.org). He does a great job of teaching the "Why" to all his moves and he gives you a move and counter move. Jeremy is a great passionate young teacher of the game. I always get something from him. I look at the kids he works with and they always get better! I would love to clone this Gym Rat teacher and send him around the country! Jeremy understands the how the body relates to the skills of the game. Trailer DVD is below. I also am a huge believer in his Overload Wrist Weight Training concepts and his wrist weights he designed for basketball players. It is a very simple concept, however, after watching the progression of the players he trains, the proof is in the pudding (see trailer footage at bottom video).

Way to go Jeremy another hit Dvd in your Millennium Series!!! Finally a Shooting Aid to help the Follow-through. The J-Glove in my humble opinion is the Best Basketball Shooting Training Aid of the New Millennium. I saw Jeremy's prize pupil Josh Akognon in Omaha last year in the NCAA opening round, Josh was incredible and I had never heard about him and he put a great Shooting display on against Wisconsin when he scored 31 points against the always tough Coach Bo Ryan defense. I personally used the J-Glove today with great results with various level players and was very impressed with much improved results that I saw today. The J-Glove sells itself and Jeremy is a tremendous young Teacher and Coach of the game. I highly endorse The J-Glove and The DVD and I look forward to watching the Ball handling DVD as well.

The website is www.jglove.com, or if you are interested in reviewing other resource services offered by Jeremy's "1% CLUB Basketball Services", refer to www.1percentclub.org. More high school coaches and AAU coaches are concerned more about playing games and putting in their systems, then working on skills.

2. America has lack of shooters and shooters need time in the gym to shoot.

3. America has lack of Point Guards. So that tells me that Dena Evans Point Guard College and Dave Devenzio National Point Guard Camp does not get to work with our best prospects in the country, probably due to a kid's lack of time and funds.

4. All camps for the most part of been shorten recently due to cost.

5. Shooting, Passing, Dribbling, and Footwork have taken a back seat during the summer months.

6. There is no Basketball hierarchy any more and what mean by that is younger players playing with older players.

7. Lack of Mental and Physical toughness in kids is frightening.

8. Hating to lose is something out of the past.

Lason Perkins DVD's

Lason has 2 new DVD's on the A-set Offense and Secrets of International Basketball. I would like to tell you about 2 High School coaches that have influence this current craze that is Ralph Tasker of Hobbs High School, Hobbs, New Mexico a Hall of Fame Coach who won over 1,000 games in his career in a state that has game limits and he also won 12 State Championships. Coach Tasker in my opinion started the original Match-up Press and press on made or missed shots. His 1969-70 team averaged 114.6 points a game which is the national record for scoring average and out of the top ten all time scoring average teams 4 out of the 10 are Tasker teams. Another Hall of Fame coach who deserves credit for this is Coach Fred Williams of Beaumont Hebert High School in Beaumont, Texas who won 4 state championships in Texas. Both of these coaches deserves credit for their styles of play that would later influence Coach Kenny Hoffpauir and Charles Breithaupt with playing uptempo Basketball. Coach Hoffpauir coaches in Texas, but also coached in the Fresno, California area in the 1990's where he influenced then Coach Vance Walberg who was at Clovis West High School in California. Coach Breithaupt coached at Hardin-Jefferson High School in Sour Lake, Texas and his team averaged 109.4 points a game. He and his formers players and now coaches at Hardin-Jefferson and Kountze have won 5 State Championships.

The Live Period is beginning

I wish NCAA would give more thought to giving more time for College coaches to evaluate players this month flies by. This was because of his leadership and coaching. I know you are not only proud of your son and Greg Oden, but you also had coached Daequan Cook and Josh McRoberts. Coach thanks for doing things the right way. What people don't realized you coached an AAU team last summer without those guys and you did a great job. You are great for this game thank you. Another Old School Coach doing a great job with America's youth.

Taras Brown, I want to thank you for what you have done for Kevin Durant

Open letter to Taras Brown, I want to thank you for all the hard work and training you put into Kevin Durant. I believe that I am on the front lines of domestic terrorism and I am deeply saddened by the Virginia Tech tragedy. With that being said, I believe that the shooter was already identified by the staff and teachers as a potential random actor. I believe that staff was ignored by the administration at the school because they are too worried about being politically correct, and sadly we have a bunch of innocent lives destroyed by this evil person. I feel that we cannot stop these events when they happen, but we had so many warning signs with this misguided student who was bullied for most of his life. We have a responsibility as a community to help be pro-active in these matters and do the right thing which is more important than being politically correct. We have plenty of more these types of individuals throughout the world and we have responsibility to identify potential random actors. Finally, I pray for all the families in this horrible event.

Coaches the art of shooting is just as important as defense

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_fjJe3hV0rzs/RhQF01L6C3I/AAAAAAAAAAc/dvl5DnTIJU4/s320/Billy+the+Kid.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5049667487377525618" />
Billy Donovan should get credit for his defense, but his team ability to hit open shots
is attributed to his great individual skill program. I see people trying to play the same way every year with different types of players and not giving their team a chance to win. While the fundamentals never change, what your players are limited in what they can do changes. Give your team a chance to win that is what they deserve. Examples are playing a zone instead of man to man if your team can't guard. I only wish that our youth of today had seen the Knicks play. They played the right way. They cared about each other and it showed on the court with their amazing teamwork and passing. They defended and helped each other on Defense. I miss Basketball played like this and I believe this is what James Naismith dreamed on how the game should be played. I miss Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Dave Debusshere, Bill Bradley, Dick Barnett, Earl Monroe, Jerry Lucas, and yes even Phil Jackson who gained not only his philosophy from Tex Winter but also the Great Red Holzman. I like many were blessed by this style of Basketball.

Interested in College Practice reports

I have attended University of Nebraska Coaches Clinic. His style of pressing on made or misses shots really up-tempos the game and his attacking offense is a system that alot teams are switching to such as Memphis University and Saint Anthonys who ran his offense last year. We have all tools here in the USA to make all players better. If I remember right we invented this great game. We need teach players how to dribble, pass, shoot, defend, and rebound. As Pete Carril once said "repetition is the mother of skill". I believe it is time that we all rolled up our sleeves and get to work and make our game better. We all possess the knowledge of the game but we have to work at it.

Doc Rock
(Herb Welling)
